Research

1. HIV remains one of the world’s most serious health threats. As an enveloped virus, HIV transfers its genome into a cell by fusion of the viral membrane with the target cell membrane. In this project, we aim to develop a single-molecular complex approach to study the mechanisms of cell entry of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which includes study the kinetics of HIV envelope protein - T cell interaction, as well as observe the conformational changes in Env en route to membrane fusion. Here is a cartoon describing what people think that happens during this fusion process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51z2dwdOLUE

2. The pre-TCR is crucial in the early T cell development, including TCR β selection and CD4 (-) CD8(-) double negative thymocyte survival and proliferation. Here we study the interaction of pre-TCR with pMHC and downstream the calcium signaling.
